Context

During Gitea migration, had to manually run helm upgrade because Gitea (git server) was down.

Problem / Observation

Manual helm upgrade failed with DB authentication errors because Flux HelmRelease uses valuesFrom to inject secrets. This was forgotten, causing crash loops.

Suggested Improvement

Document that when manually running helm upgrade for Flux-managed releases:

  • Check HelmRelease for valuesFrom entries
  • Extract secret values and pass them via -f or --set
